Domański: energy prices for households will not increase until the end of the year TVN24

On Friday, Climate Minister Paulina Hennig-Kloska mentioned on Radio Zet that a decision regarding a potential extension of the freeze on electricity rates for households will be made following an evaluation of the new tariffs proposed by energy firms.

– By the end of July, companies will present their tariff applications, which will be followed by a tariff assessment, after which we will determine the structure of the shields – Hennig-Kloska noted. She expressed her belief that the tariffs suggested by energy companies would not exceed the „statutory threshold,” in which case she would recommend to the government the continuation of the shields and funding them from the savings allocated for shields in the first three quarters of this year.

Electricity prices frozen until September 30

According to current regulations, household electricity consumers are entitled to a price freeze at PLN 500 per MWh net until September 30. Meanwhile, so-called ex officio sellers must submit requests to the President of the Energy Regulatory Office with proposed tariffs that would apply after September 30 by the end of July.

The prevailing tariff from the official sellers – PGE Obrót, Enea, Tauron Sprzedaż, Energi Obrót, and Tauron Sprzedaż GZE – for recipients in group G, which includes households, is PLN 622.8 per MWh net. The state compensates sellers for the difference between the tariff price and the legally frozen rate.

On the Polish Power Exchange, basic BASE contracts with delivery in Q4 2025 were traded in the range of PLN 420-440 per MWh over the past month.

According to the latest statistics from the Energy Regulatory Office, there are nearly 16.4 million recipients in tariff group G across Poland. Of these, over 10 million utilize prices established in tariffs, while more than 6 million take advantage of free market offers. In 2024, the proportion of recipients using tariffs decreased by 1.26%.

Paulina Hennig-Kloska will be a guest on Radomir Witt’s „#BezKitu” program. Tune in on Friday at 8:00 PM on TVN24.

„Fact”: bills may increase by 70 PLN

As reported on Thursday by „Fakt,” the Ministry of Climate and Environment does not intend to extend one of the main components of the anti-inflation shield. This implies that starting in July, the capacity fee, which has been on hold for the past several months and was set at zero zlotys, will reappear on bills.

Estimates suggest that the average household will incur an additional cost of approximately PLN 70 for electricity annually.

„The initial components of the shield are set to expire on June 30. This includes electricity bills, specifically the capacity fee, which is currently at zero zlotys due to government suspension aimed at protecting households. All indications suggest that this relief will not be prolonged,” the daily reported.

„The support mechanisms implemented are tailored to the current market conditions and are preceded by a thorough analysis. The capacity fee is crucial for ensuring energy security, especially during peak demand periods. At present, extending the suspension of its collection appears to be an excessive intervention,” the media relations department of the Ministry of Climate responded to „Fakt’s” inquiries regarding further exemptions for households from the capacity fee.
