On Wednesday, the Chief Sanitary Inspectorate released a notice about certain batches of gluten-free protein bars that were discovered to contain gluten. These products are being removed from retail locations.
According to GIS, information was received regarding the withdrawal process from sale and from consumers of these specific bar batches, which is being carried out by the manufacturer and distributor BioTechUSA Kft. via the Early Warning System for Unsafe Food and Feed. Gluten (>20 mg/kg) was detected in products labeled as gluten-free.
„Consumption of this product by individuals with gluten sensitivity or wheat allergies may trigger an allergic response,” it was emphasized.
Identification of recalled items:
The Hungarian manufacturer/distributor has initiated a recall and withdrawal procedure for the affected products.
GIS highlighted that the withdrawal of the questioned items is being closely monitored by the State Sanitary Inspectorate authorities.
