In March 2025, inflation in the European Union was reported at 2.5 percent year-on-year, according to Eurostat. Poland ranked third in terms of HICP among the Community.
In the eurozone, the annual HICP inflation rate was below the EU average, registering at 2.2%.
The lowest year-on-year inflation rates among Member States were observed in France (0.9%), Denmark (1.4%), and Luxembourg (1.5%).
Conversely, the steepest price increases were noted in Romania (5.1 percent), Hungary (4.8 percent), and Poland (4.4 percent), as per Eurostat figures.

Referring to February 2025, deflation, or a decrease in prices, was seen in five Member States. The most significant drops occurred in Denmark and Sweden (both by 0.6%) and Belgium (by 0.4%). In Hungary, prices remained stable.
In the other 21 nations, prices increased month-on-month. Notably, the largest rises were in Greece (by 1.9%), Portugal (by 1.7%), and Italy (by 1.6%). In Poland, prices increased by 0.3% month-on-month, placing it 14th in the EU ranking.
The HICP represents a harmonized consumer price index, computed using the standardized methodology of the Statistical Office of the European Union. According to the inflation criteria outlined in the Maastricht Treaty, the HICP serves as the foundation for evaluating price stability. The data for HICP inflation is derived from household expenditure budgets and national accounts.
