Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that the government would allocate funds to Rafako in order to preserve the facility. He also remarked that there is no barrier to commencing arms production in the same location where boilers were previously manufactured.

Rafako is a supplier of power units and a producer of equipment for the energy sector. The company filed for bankruptcy in December 2024. It ranks among the largest employers in the Racibórz area.

Tusk about Rafako

– It has become evident that continuing the production for which Rafako was renowned is not feasible – the prime minister stated. He emphasized, however, that there are Polish and European funds available, and it is crucial for the nation’s security to invest them in armaments manufacturing.

The prime minister asserted that nothing hinders the initiation of arms production on a significant scale in the locations where boilers were once produced.

– We have decided to invest a certain amount of money in Rafako to sustain this facility – Tusk mentioned.

The prime minister underscored that there are „sufficient” facilities in Silesia where production can be adapted.

– We will seek to implement streamlined procedures, similar to what was done with Huta Częstochowa – he clarified. In October 2024, Liberty Częstochowa, the owner of Huta Częstochowa, was declared bankrupt. In February 2025, it was added to the list of strategic enterprises and will receive state protection.
