EU Funds: Huge Cash for Poland

The draft budget issued by the European Commission allocates more than €123 billion for Poland, which includes funds for agricultural policy and cohesion, as stated in an announcement made by the European Commission late Thursday into Friday. This is an initial budget proposal that will undergo further discussion among member states in the upcoming months.
The presentation of the draft marks the beginning of the negotiation process. Budget discussions are expected to conclude with a consensus from all member countries.
Poland is set to receive over €123 billion (equivalent to PLN 522 billion at the current exchange rate) under the so-called national and regional plans, which will designate specific amounts to EU nations for cohesion policy, agriculture, and projects related to migration and security.
Poland at the Forefront
The report from the European Commission indicates that Poland is projected to receive the highest allocation. France (approximately €90 billion) and Spain (around €88 billion) follow in second place.
Within the current EU budget for 2021–27, Poland obtained roughly €107 billion (designated for cohesion policy and the Common Agricultural Policy).
Proposed Budget for 2028-2034
On Wednesday, the European Commission unveiled its suggested €2 trillion EU budget for the years 2028–34. The new budget places an emphasis on sectoral policies aligned with national plans and proposes a five-fold increase in defense expenditure.
The €2 trillion figure signifies nearly a doubling of the current budget, which stands at €1.2 trillion.
