Russia continues to be a significant provider of liquefied gas to Poland – this is according to information from the Polish Liquefied Gas Organisation (POGP), referenced in the Friday edition of „Puls Biznesu”.

The publication indicates that while the ban on this fuel from Russia was implemented in December, the rules allow for an exception: the importation of LPG fractions utilized in the refining sector is authorized.

As reported by „PB”, these are blended with propane in Poland and offered at fuel stations.

Consistent rise in imports

– Owing to the loophole in the embargo, we noted a consistent increase in the imports of n-butanes and isobutanes from Russia during the first quarter, Bartosz Kwiatkowski, the general director of POGP, informed the daily.

Kwiatkowski highlighted that „in January it was 22 thousand tons, in February 31 thousand tons, and in March it reached 38 thousand tons”.

Consequently, as the article’s author mentions, „Russia’s portion of LPG imports to Poland in the first quarter accounted for over 18 percent. For the entire year of 2024, it was approximately 43 percent.”
