The government anticipates that Poland’s GDP growth for 2026 will reach 3.5 percent, while the average annual inflation rate is projected to be 3 percent, as outlined in the draft state budget for 2026, which was approved by the Council of Ministers on Thursday.

„The Council of Ministers has approved a proposal for average annual wage increase rates in the public sector for 2026, along with details on the anticipated macroeconomic indicators that form the basis for the budget draft for 2026,” stated a press release.

Budget projections for 2026

As per the government’s projections, Poland’s GDP growth rate in 2026 is expected to be 3.5%, with the average annual price increase of consumer goods and services set at 3.0%.

The nominal average gross salary in the national economy is expected to rise by 6.7 percent in 2026, while the nominal average gross wage in the corporate sector is anticipated to grow by 6.9 percent.

According to the government’s forecasts, the unemployment rate registered by the end of 2026 is projected to be 4.9%, and the average employment in the public sector is estimated to be about 618.9 thousand full-time positions.

Expected salary increases in the public sector

The government also suggests an average annual wage increase rate in the public sector for 2026 of 103 percent in nominal terms, indicating that salaries and base amounts will be indexed by 3 percent, reflecting the anticipated average annual inflation for that year.
