Lidl withdraws potatoes. GIS warning

The Chief Sanitary Inspectorate has issued a caution concerning potatoes sold at Lidl stores. A specific batch of the product was found to have surpassed the permissible level of a pesticide. „Do not consume potatoes bought from certain outlets,” the office advised.
„The Chief Sanitary Inspector has been notified that Lidl Polska Sp. z oo Sp. k. is recalling the batch of the product listed below, named 'Early loose potatoes', following the test results obtained during the owner’s inspection for pesticide residues,” GIS stated.
The affected potatoes are being withdrawn from selected Lidl store chains in the following regions: Lublin, Warmian-Masurian, Podlaskie, Subcarpathian, Lesser Poland, and Silesian.

GIS underscored in the announcement that „after receiving the test results indicating that the legal limit for pesticide residues had been surpassed, Lidl Sp. z oo Sp. k. in conjunction with PPUH Awex sp. z oo decided to commence the withdrawal procedure for the batch of the product in question from the market.”
Alert for consumers
„Notifications for consumers were displayed on May 30, 2025, in the afternoon within the affected Lidl stores and on the lidl.pl website in the 'Important information for customers' section,” it further noted.
The Inspectorate emphasized that „potatoes acquired from select Lidl outlets between May 26 and May 30, 2025, should not be ingested.” Customers can return the product to any store in the chain without needing to provide a receipt.
Official food safety authorities are conducting investigative checks at both the producer and supplier levels.
