My Electricity 6.0 has been launched from the Ministry of Climate and Environment

On Tuesday, the Ministry of Climate and Environment declared that the budget for the sixth iteration of the Mój Prąd program has been augmented by an extra PLN 600 million. Initially, the budget for this edition was set at PLN 400 million. The program aims to assist in the acquisition of photovoltaic panels and energy storage systems.

In collaboration with the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOŚiGW), the Ministry of Climate and Environment has boosted the budget for the sixth installment of the Mój Prąd program to a total of PLN 1.85 billion, adding PLN 600 million.

It was also mentioned that applications for the Mój Prąd 6.0 program will be accepted until August 29, 2024, or until the allocated funds are depleted. The initial timeline for applications was set to conclude on December 20, 2024, and was subsequently extended to March 6, 2025.

According to Climate Minister Paulina Hennig-Kloska, who was quoted in the press release, Mój Prąd is among the „most significant programs aimed at reducing carbon dioxide emissions and lowering the bills of Polish citizens,” which motivated the increase in the program’s budget and an extension of the application timeframe.

„By incorporating energy and heat storage solutions into the program, we have enhanced the efficiency of new residential PV systems, thereby decreasing energy expenses for Polish households,” stated the head of the Ministry of Climate and Environment.

The Ministry noted that as of March 3 this year, nearly 83,000 applications totaling PLN 1.15 billion had been submitted under the program. It highlighted that over 41,000 applications, amounting to PLN 585 million, were also related to co-financing for energy storage solutions, while more than 13,000 applications worth PLN 61 million were for heat storage systems.

My Electricity 6.0 – guidelines

The initiative is accessible to individuals who produce electricity for personal use and possess a comprehensive agreement—a sales agreement for supplying electricity generated from a micro-installation to the grid. Financial support is provided in the form of a subsidy covering up to 50% of eligible investment expenses.

Funding is available for the installation of photovoltaic panels or a photovoltaic micro-installation along with energy or heat storage systems. This support targets prosumers (those who simultaneously produce and consume electricity) who have incurred expenses for their photovoltaic systems after January 1, 2021.

To take advantage of the latest edition of Mój Prąd, the prosumer must be billed under the net-billing system. For PV installations registered for connection to the grid from August 1, 2024, receiving the subsidy will also require an investment in energy or heat storage.

Under this sixth edition of the program, co-financing for PV micro-installations, when investing in energy storage and/or heat storage, can reach up to PLN 7,000; without such investments, it is capped at PLN 6,000. For heat storage systems with a minimum capacity of 20 dm3, prosumers may receive up to PLN 5,000 in funding, while for electricity storage systems with a minimum capacity of 2 kWh, the co-financing can be as high as PLN 16,000.

Throughout the six editions of Mój Prąd thus far, the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management has distributed over PLN 3 billion in subsidies, facilitating more than 560,000 investments. The program is funded by the EU initiative European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate, Environment 2021-2027 (FEnIKS).

At the beginning of February this year, Dorota Zawadzka-Stępniak, the president of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, announced that discussions were taking place regarding extending the application period for Mój Prąd 6.0 and increasing the program’s budget.
