The Chief Sanitary Inspectorate (GIS) has announced the detection of salmonella in yogurt-apricot flavored chicken tenderloins. This product was produced for the Biedronka supermarket chain owned by Jeronimo Martins. The chain has also released a notice to its customers regarding this issue.

„Due to the official actions taken by the Veterinary Inspection, Salmonella from the O:9 (D1) group was identified in 4 out of 5 samples, while Salmonella from the O:7 (C1) group was found in 1 out of 5 tested samples of yogurt-apricot flavored chicken tenderloins,” GIS stated in a press announcement.

It was further noted that „the product is designed to be consumed after being cooked, which reduces the risk of infection. However, the possibility of transferring bacteria from the meat to other surfaces, inadequate temperature, or insufficient cooking time may result in human infection and lead to salmonellosis.”
