A Comeback After Several Years
Wizz Air commenced operations from Modlin in 2012 but ceased them after a few months due to issues with the runway. Following renovations, only Ryanair returned, becoming the sole airline operating regularly from Modlin Airport.
Wizz Air is a Hungarian carrier with a fleet of 230 Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft, providing over 600 routes from 25 bases across Central and Eastern Europe. Since 2004, the airline has transported more than 120 million passengers to and from Poland.

Warsaw-Modlin Mazovia Airport is situated 37 km from the heart of Warsaw, conveniently located near the S7 expressway and the Warsaw-Modlin railway line. Data from the Civil Aviation Authority indicates that Modlin was one of two airports in Poland that saw a decrease in passenger traffic in 2024.
In 2024, the Warsaw airport accommodated 2,697,575 travelers, reflecting a 20.7 percent drop from the 3,399,650 passengers in 2023. The Civil Aviation Authority attributed this decline to a decrease in the number of seats provided by Ryanair.
Recently, Ryanair signed a contract with Warsaw-Modlin Airport that envisions increasing the number of flights and passengers at the airport from 1.5 million annually to 5 million by 2030.
Under the terms of the agreement, Ryanair has pledged to invest over USD 400 million, doubling the number of aircraft stationed from four to eight, launching at least 25 new routes, and creating 200 new job opportunities in Modlin.
The airport near Warsaw has committed to expanding its terminal from four to eight passenger check-in desks and increasing aircraft parking spaces to 12 by September 2027. Additionally, it is projected to generate 400 new jobs, covering areas such as passenger services, airport security, and retail.
Air Arabia is also getting ready to commence flights from the airport near Warsaw, with plans to initiate direct services to Sharjah.
