Trade with Ukraine. Poland earned a fortune

Polish exporters and manufacturers shipped goods valued at over PLN 56 billion to Ukraine, as reported by „Gazeta Wyborcza” in its Wednesday issue. This amount exceeds exports to both the US and Spain.
„GW,” referencing figures from the Central Statistical Office, indicates that „the Polish economy concluded the previous year with a significant financial surplus in bilateral trade.” „Producers and sellers exported goods to Ukraine totaling more than PLN 56 billion. This marks an increase of PLN 5 billion compared to the previous year,” it notes.
It further mentions that „Ukrainians, on the other hand, sold products in Poland valued at a total of PLN 20.5 billion.” This figure is approximately PLN 200 million higher than in 2023.
The highest sales were in these categories
„Polish manufacturers and intermediaries engaged in the sale of mineral products, primarily fuels, generated the highest earnings – nearly PLN 10 billion. This is nearly the same as the previous year, but in comparison to the year just before the war began, the sector saw an eight-fold increase in sales,” the newspaper highlights.
According to the publication, „the most significant year-on-year increase was observed in the arms sector: the value of military equipment sold approached PLN 10 billion.” In 2023, exports were nearly half that amount.
„Sellers of machinery, mechanical devices, and electronic equipment also have reasons to celebrate, as they concluded the year with sales exceeding PLN 7.3 billion. A comparable figure (PLN 7.4 billion) was recorded for vehicle exporters. Additionally, Ukrainians procured chemical industry products (PLN 4.6 billion), textiles (PLN 3 billion), plastics (PLN 2.7 billion), and processed food items (PLN 2.4 billion),” the report states.
