„Their actions are not only increasingly dangerous.” Warning
The CSIRT KNF team alerts about the rising danger „stemming from group SMS messages sent by cybercriminals.” They also stress that the tactics employed by scammers are „becoming more perilous.”
„We are cautioning about the escalating threat posed by group SMS messages from cybercriminals – their operations are not only growing more hazardous but are also becoming easier to execute, as they create group chats to reduce costs and efforts while disseminating SMS messages to a broad audience of potential victims,” stated the cybersecurity team of the Polish Financial Supervision Authority (CSIRT KNF) on social media.
CSIRT KNF cautions against scammers
They explained that „by impersonating Pocztex, scammers claim that it is necessary to 'update the delivery address’,” while „in reality the link included in the message leads to a counterfeit website designed to extract personal data and payment card details.”
„Remain especially alert and avoid clicking on dubious links,” the team advised.
In a follow-up post, CSIRT KNF remarked that „websites crafted by cybercriminals frequently mimic the genuine ones closely.”
„As part of our ongoing series, we showcase additional instances of fraudulent domains employed in attacks against online banking clients. Exercise caution and remember to thoroughly verify the URL of the site you are visiting,” the announcement stated.
Examples of counterfeit courier service websites alongside their legitimate counterparts are also included.
Alerts regarding scammers
Previously, cybersecurity specialists have also issued warnings about, among other things, fraudulent emails soliciting payments for tolls in the e-TOLL system, as well as a new scheme – utilizing stolen PESEL numbers to create fictitious third-party liability insurance contracts.
