Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz: this signature has not been there for weeks

– 600 million zlotys have been allocated to social housing this year, marking the lowest investment in many years. To expand this funding, the signature of the Minister of Development is required, and that signature has been absent for weeks – stated Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz, Minister of Funds and Regional Policy, during “One on One” on TVN24. She also discussed the intensification of the conflict in the Middle East, its consequences for rising oil prices, and the advantages this presents for Russia and Vladimir Putin.
Pełczyńska-Nałęcz addressed the issue of the one billion zlotys for social housing being held up by Minister of Development and Technology Krzysztof Paszyk. The Minister of Funds acknowledged that she has been awaiting his endorsement on this matter for several weeks.
Pełczyńska-Nałęcz on housing
– There are numerous housing projects in Poland as local governments are prepared. Therefore, this is not an issue for me – she remarked.
– We will not engage in any „under-the-table” arrangements and mislead the public about the reality. If we have committed to this social housing initiative and there is demand, which is clearly significant, and we have the funding available since the Minister of Finance has given his approval, then let’s proceed with it instead of making claims about its progress when it is not occurring, despite the potential – she added.
The minister emphasized that she „does not plan to dramatize this situation personally”. – I am discussing this matter because I believe it is our responsibility to the public to communicate the truth and fulfill this need. I am confident that we will accomplish it swiftly, as this is how it ought to be, and this is undeniably one of the five priorities we have set for Poland 2050, focusing on a sound housing policy – she concluded.
Minister of Funds on the rise in oil prices
The Minister of Funds also commented on Israel’s strikes against Iran, targeting nuclear and military sites.
– President (Donald) Trump attempted to distance himself, but now he is clearly aligning with Israel. Oil prices are increasing, which is also a consequence. This situation is particularly advantageous for Russia, as the United States becomes embroiled there, causing oil prices to rise. Russia maintains an alliance with Iran, thus strengthening this Russian-Iranian partnership – stated Pełczyńska-Nałęcz.
She added that „this signifies that our American ally is entangled in yet another escalating and crucial conflict.”
– A conflict that benefits Russia by driving up oil prices, which, as we know, had recently been declining and adversely affecting the Russian economy. Now these prices are likely to increase, potentially steadily, which is always favorable news for (Vladimir) Putin. This is not good. There are many perspectives from which things are not going well for us – she stressed.

Following Israel’s attack on Iran, oil prices surged significantly after reaching their lowest level in nearly six months, as investors are concerned that a severe escalation in tensions in the Middle East could affect supply chains, according to Reuters.
