One-Way Trip: Brits Choose Poland

Britons who wish to move abroad most frequently select Australia, the United States, and Canada. Interestingly, a notable number of British nationals also view Poland as a potential destination, with Poland securing 7th place in the ranking.
In recent years, millions of Britons have departed from the UK. The motivations behind this are varied, ranging from the desire for warmer climates to more affordable living expenses. A recent analysis of international migrants, utilizing United Nations data from 2024, has disclosed the most favored destinations for British emigrants.
Australia takes the top spot
Australia leads the list with a community of over 1.1 million British expatriates, representing 23% of all migrants departing the UK. The United States closely follows, with nearly 900,000 UK citizens relocating there permanently. Canada ranks third, with more than 400,000 Britons seeking a better quality of life.
Notably, Poland also appears on the list of popular one-way destinations for Britons, securing the 7th position. There has been a remarkable rise in the number of immigrants from the UK, with the population growing from 41,000 Britons in 2015 to 184,900 last year.
„Relocating to another country is an exhilarating choice, but the process of moving can be daunting, especially in the post-Brexit landscape,” stated Cameron Hamilton from the Spanish real estate agency 5 Real Estate, which conducted the research, in an interview with the Daily Mail.
„Australia, the US, and Canada continue to draw the majority of British migrants, likely due to their high standard of living, being primarily English-speaking nations, and generally offering better salaries compared to the UK. Nonetheless, we are witnessing a significant surge in the appeal of European destinations, particularly in Eastern Europe,” Hamilton added.
