Health insurance premium. Zandberg appeals to the president to veto

Zandberg stated he wouldn’t be going to KońskieTVN24
Adrian Zandberg – the Razem party’s presidential candidate for the Republic of Poland – had a meeting with Andrzej Duda at the Presidential Palace on Friday afternoon. He remarked that the president’s veto of the health insurance legislation is essential.
Following the meeting, Zandberg informed at a press conference that the conversation primarily revolved around health security and the risks tied to the privatization of public healthcare.
Zandberg: poor decisions forced through by the government majority
– I conveyed to the president the genuine threats posed by the underfunding of the National Health Fund and the poor decisions that have been enforced by the current government majority and Donald Tusk’s administration, which jeopardize the availability of funds for health services, surgeries, treatments, and medication programs by year-end – stated Zandberg, referring to the amendment regarding the reduction of health insurance contributions for entrepreneurs that was recently passed by the Sejm.
He believes that Poland is currently facing the risk of healthcare privatization. He further added that the president’s veto against the amendment to the health insurance contribution law is necessary „to halt this detrimental, harmful, and perilous process of transforming public healthcare into private healthcare, which affects millions of Polish citizens.”
Earlier, the Razem party’s presidential candidate declared that he would not attend the presidential debate taking place in Końskie on Friday.

Changes in health insurance premiums
At the beginning of April, the Sejm approved an amendment that reduces the health insurance contribution for entrepreneurs. This amendment establishes a two-tier calculation basis for health insurance contributions for entrepreneurs – up to a certain threshold, a flat-rate contribution will apply, while any income above that will be calculated at a percentage rate. The flat-rate portion will account for 9% of 75% of the minimum wage. The second tier will be determined based on income exceeding 1.5 times the average monthly salary for entrepreneurs utilizing the tax scale or a flat tax (rate of 4.9%).
For entrepreneurs opting for a flat-rate tax, the second portion of the contribution will be calculated on income surpassing three times the average monthly salary (rate of 3.5%). The proposal also includes reducing the contribution to 9% from 75% of the minimum wage (currently 9% of the minimum wage) for entrepreneurs taxed under a tax card system. Additionally, the act abolishes the option of deducting paid health insurance contributions from income tax.
