Prices at gas stations in February 2025. How much does Pb95, Pb98 petrol and diesel cost? Fuel analysts' forecasts

Following three weeks of decreases, the reduction in fuel prices at gas stations is showing signs of stabilizing, as assessed by analysts from the e-petrol.pl portal in their latest report. According to Refleks analysts, the end of February might see an increase in diesel prices by an average of 5 groszy per litre, while retail petrol prices could decline.
Analysts from the e-petrol.pl portal indicate that the pricing situation at gas stations is not expected to change „dynamically” in the upcoming days, although a rise in diesel prices is anticipated, which is already escalating at the wholesale level. They predict the following retail fuel prices for the end of February: PLN 6.04-6.15/l for 95-octane petrol, PLN 6.25-6.36/l for diesel, and PLN 3.18-3.25/l for autogas.
Refleks analysts noted that by the end of February, diesel prices could increase by an average of 5 gr/l – they reported on Friday. They also mentioned that retail petrol prices might decrease by 2-4 gr/l. They emphasize that fuel prices remain stable and are close to the average levels from January this year, when drivers paid PLN 6.17/l for Pb95 petrol and PLN 6.31/l for diesel.

Overview of the fuel market
„The pricing situation at gas stations at the start of the second half of February was stable. Diesel fuel and autogas were priced the same as the previous week, standing at PLN 6.29/l and PLN 3.21/l respectively. A modest reduction of two groszy was noted only for 95-octane petrol, which saw its average price drop to PLN 6.13/l,” stated e-patrol analysts. They further added that throughout the week, only the price of 95-octane petrol saw a change, decreasing by two groszy.
Refleks analysts indicated that „PLN 6.14/l and PLN 6.29/l are the current average retail prices for Pb95 petrol and diesel in Poland. During the week, both petrol and diesel experienced a slight drop of 2 gr/l,” they observed. They highlighted that the week on the wholesale market was marked by a nearly 8 gr/l net increase in diesel prices and a 6 gr/l net decrease in petrol prices. They noted that fuel prices are stable and approximate the average levels from January this year, when drivers paid PLN 6.17/l for Pb95 petrol and PLN 6.31/l for diesel.

„February is also another month in succession where fuel prices are lower compared to the same time last year,” they pointed out. They added that the average retail prices of Pb95 petrol and diesel in February 2024 were PLN 6.45/l and PLN 6.67/l, respectively. „Only autogas has become more expensive, with an average price of PLN 3.23/l, or 0.32 gr/l higher than a year ago,” reported Refleks analysts.
As explained by e-patrol analysts, „recently, global markets have seen an uptick in crude oil prices and a temporary weakening of the złoty against the US dollar. After three weeks of decreases, the reductions at the stations are slowing, but even if the average costs of petrol or diesel haven’t dipped below six złoty, the expenses for refueling remain significantly lower than a year ago, when fuels were 30-40 groszy more expensive, or two years ago when the average diesel price surpassed seven złoty,” they remarked. They also mentioned that the exception is autogas, which, due to the cutoff from Russian supply sources, is approximately 10 percent pricier than last year.

„Diplomatic turmoil” as a risk factor
As per e-patrol analysts, the most significant recent event impacting commodity markets has been the „diplomatic turmoil” surrounding efforts to resolve the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. „All related reports are carefully scrutinized, and the ultimate perspective on ending the war is linked by analysts to the potential lifting of sanctions and the restoration of raw material availability from Russia for countries that
