Compensation for Lux Veritatis, Tadeusz Rydzyk's foundation. Investigation underway.

On June 12, authorities launched an investigation regarding the compensation payment to the Lux Veritatis foundation made by PZU SA, as reported by Mateusz Martyniuk, spokesperson for the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Warsaw, to tvn24.pl.
At the end of March, PZU submitted a notice to the prosecutor’s office concerning a potential criminal act related to the disbursement of unwarranted compensation to the Lux Veritatis Foundation, presided over by Tadeusz Rydzyk.
According to information obtained by the business editorial team of tvn24.pl, an investigation has been initiated regarding this situation.
On June 12, 2025, the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Warsaw commenced an inquiry into mismanagement linked to the compensation payment process, which allegedly resulted in substantial property loss amounting to PLN 10 million to the detriment of PZU SA. Prosecutor Mateusz Martyniuk informed tvn24.pl that this relates to an act under Article 296 § 1 and 3 of the Penal Code.
§ 1. Anyone who, being obligated by a statute, a decision of a competent authority, or a contract to manage the property or business of a natural person, a legal entity, or an organizational unit without legal personality, by misusing the authority granted to them or failing to fulfill their duties, causes significant property damage to such a person, shall face a penalty of imprisonment for a period ranging from 3 months to 5 years. § 3. If the individual responsible for the offense stated in § 1 or 2 inflicts significant property damage, they shall face a penalty of imprisonment for a period ranging from 1 to 10 years.
– Due to ongoing procedural actions, the prosecutor’s office is unable to provide specific details regarding the proceedings – he added.

Millions for Father Rydzyk’s Foundation
This involves a compensation payment of PLN 10 million to a foundation linked to Father Tadeusz Rydzyk concerning the Geotermia Toruńska project. The new management board of PZU believes these actions harm the company and constitute fraud against foreign partners working with the insurer.
Robert Kropiwnicki, Deputy Minister of State Assets, discussed the issue last year on TVN24’s „One on One.” „Tadeusz Rydzyk was regarded as a golden calf by all companies. (…) Few could manage to report damages occurring in 2009 a decade later in 2020 and then receive PLN 10 million in compensation in 2023,” remarked the deputy head of MAP in August 2024.
As reported by RMF FM in April, „The PLN 10 million from PZU for the Lux Veritatis foundation associated with Tadeusz Rydzyk may represent just half of the total funds the foundation received concerning the geothermal drilling claim in Toruń. The other half was expected to be contributed by Exalo Drilling, a firm within the Orlen Group.”
The coalition parties currently in government announced during their election campaign that public funds allocated to initiatives supported by Toruń-based Redemptorist Father Tadeusz Rydzyk would be scrutinized. Over the past eight years, at least 380 million złoty has been directed to Toruń from various governmental bodies.
