Allegro is no longer the leader in online trade in Poland. It has been overtaken by a Chinese platform
In March, the Temu platform surpassed Allegro in user numbers, as reported by Mediapanel. Nonetheless, Allegro maintained its top position regarding the duration of user engagement. Experts are raising concerns about the increasing traction of Chinese sales platforms.
According to the Mediapanel Gemius/PBI report, the Temu platform recorded 18.1 million users in March, while Allegro had slightly over 17.8 million users. The Media Expert store secured third place with 11.8 million users.
The leading positions of the top two platforms swapped for the first time, „even though just a month ago, the difference between them was minimal,” highlighted „Rzeczpospolita.” The publication noted, citing industry analysts, that merely counting users „does not necessarily reflect the true popularity of a particular service.” Online shoppers continue to spend more time on Allegro (averaging one hour and 40 minutes) compared to Temu (which is 48 minutes).

Chinese platforms are gaining strength
We previously reported on the rapid rise of Chinese online shopping platforms on the tvn24.pl website at the end of last year. However, experts have highlighted the negative aspects of this trend.
– There are numerous issues associated with these platforms – stated Sylwia Czubkowska, a journalist and author of „The Chinese hold us tight. The first investigation into how China colonizes Europe, including Poland.” – First and foremost, there are concerns regarding product ingredients, certification, and accurate information about what we are buying. These products could potentially be hazardous – she cautioned.
