Budget deficit 2025 – how much is it after April. Data from the Ministry of Finance
As of April 2025, the state budget deficit reached PLN 91.4 billion, which is 31.7 percent of the projected total for the year, as reported by the Ministry of Finance on Thursday. This figure exceeds last month’s data by over PLN 15 billion.
The deficit as of April represents 31.7% of the total deficit projected for all of 2025. In March, the deficit was nearly PLN 76.3 billion, accounting for 26.4% of the annual plan. Therefore, the deficit rose by PLN 15.1 billion in April.

Based on the Ministry of Finance’s estimates, budget revenues for this year after April reached almost PLN 176.4 billion, equivalent to 27.9 percent of the annual plan. Of this total, tax revenues contributed nearly PLN 157.95 billion, which corresponds to 27.7 percent of the plan.
After four months, budget expenditures totaled just over PLN 267.8 billion, representing 29.1 percent of the total budget for 2025.
Currency accounts
„At the close of April, the currency accounts of the budget held over PLN 46.9 billion, or approximately EUR 10.97 billion,” the Ministry of Finance disclosed on Thursday.
„The balance of foreign currency assets within the budget accounts at the end of April 2025 stood at EUR 10,969.7 million (PLN 46,926.2 million),” the Ministry of Finance announced on Thursday.
The Ministry further reported that during April 2025, it made capital repayments of over PLN 1.58 billion (EUR 372 million) and interest payments totaling PLN 496 million (EUR 118.7 million) as part of servicing the State Treasury’s foreign debt.
