Energy Regulatory Office. Renata Mroczek has been appointed president of the office.

The Prime Minister has designated Renata Mroczek as the President of the Energy Regulatory Office (URE), as per a press announcement. Her tenure is set for five years.
The announcement of her appointment followed an open and competitive selection process.
The new president of the Energy Regulatory Office
Renata Mroczek becomes the seventh individual to hold the presidency of the Energy Regulatory Office.
She has been serving as the Vice President of the Energy Regulatory Office since October 30, 2024. Before that, from 2017, she led the Central-Western Regional Office of the Energy Regulatory Office, located in Łódź – the largest regional division of the Office, which encompasses the Masovian and Łódź Voivodeships.

Mroczek succeeds Rafał Gawin as president, whose term concluded in July 2024.
Competencies of the President of the Energy Regulatory Office
The President of the Energy Regulatory Office serves as the main government administrative body established under the Energy Law to execute responsibilities associated with the regulation of fuel and energy management and the encouragement of competition.
At present, the responsibilities of the President of the Energy Regulatory Office include, among other things, the granting and revocation of licenses to companies functioning in the energy and fuel sectors, the approval and oversight of the application of tariffs for gaseous fuels, electricity, and heat, ensuring compliance with the principles outlined in the Act and its implementing regulations, which includes analyzing and verifying the costs that energy companies claim as justifiable for the computation of prices and fee rates in tariffs.
