GIS warned against using soup ladles from the TEDi chain

The Chief Sanitary Inspectorate has issued a warning regarding a soup ladle available for purchase at the TEDi retail chain. The item has been removed from the shelves after it was discovered that it could leach harmful substances into food.
The distributor responsible for the recalled soup ladle in Poland is the retail chain TEDi sp. z o. o. This product originates from Germany and is identified as: Suppenkelle soup ladle. Article number: 29821001001000000100.
According to the retail chain, the ladle was on sale from May 2, 2024, to March 31, 2025.
Customers can return the ladles to any TEDi retail location.
Sanepid withdraws the product
The GIS has been informed that TEDi has pulled the soup ladles from the market due to the migration of primary aromatic amines (PAAs) from the product into food. It has been noted that primary aromatic amines are compounds that may present a health hazard and should not be found in food. PAAs are classified among the chemicals regarded as carcinogenic or potentially carcinogenic.
GIS has stressed that these ladles should not come into contact with food.
TEDi retail locations have been instructed by the distributor to remove the item from sale and properly secure it for disposal. The State Sanitary Inspectorate is collaborating with the distributor to oversee the withdrawal process of the ladles – as assured by GIS.
