The President of the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency, Magdalena Jaworska-Maćkowiak, has retracted her resignation submitted to the Ministry of Infrastructure last Friday, as reported by PAŻP spokesperson Marcin Hadaj.

On Tuesday evening, TVN24 disclosed that the PAŻP leader had submitted her resignation to the Ministry of Infrastructure the previous week, with confirmation from the ministry’s head, Dariusz Klimczak, who expressed a desire to understand the rationale behind the decision. As per TVN24’s sources within PAŻP, Jaworska-Maćkowiak’s resignation was preceded by a critical letter from the air traffic controllers’ unions.

He emphasized that Jaworska-Maćkowiak’s continuation in her role „ensures the continuity of PANSA’s operational functions, the achievement of strategic objectives until 2034, and the maintenance of high readiness for the return of route traffic to Polish airspace after the conclusion of the war in Ukraine.”

Reasons for the departure that did not occur

Last Friday, the PAŻP president submitted her resignation but later withdrew it. In a message to employees, she clarified the reasons behind her intentions to step down.

„There were three key factors that led to the resignation I submitted last Friday. Some matters have been positively resolved in recent days following discussions with the Minister of Infrastructure and the Secretary of State in that ministry, and others, I believe, will be addressed in the upcoming initiatives by the Agency’s team for its benefit. I want to stress that social dialogue within PAŻP is of strategic importance and will be sustained. The effective operation of PAŻP is contingent on the agreement between the Agency and the Social Side. Any misunderstandings should be settled through sincere and open discussions. I remain fully open to dialogue whenever possible. The primary focus must always be the Agency and its future, let us keep that in mind,” the PAŻP president stated in her email to employees, which was obtained by „Czarno na biały” reporter Grzegorz Łakomski.

He also inquired with the PAŻP spokesperson regarding these three reasons for the resignation but had not received a reply by the time of publication.

The Polish Air Navigation Agency is the sole institution in Poland responsible for training and employing civilian air traffic controllers and managing air traffic in the nation’s airspace. PAŻP ensures the safety of aircraft taking off and landing at Polish airports, as well as those traversing through the country.
