Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that the Polish economy has progressed „from zero two years ago to the peak level in Europe.” He also highlighted the unprecedented low unemployment rate recorded in May.
„And incidentally: record-low unemployment in May. The economy has escalated from zero two years ago to the peak level in Europe,” Donald Tusk shared on social media.

He further emphasized that „inflation, which soared to 18 percent two years ago, has decreased to 4 percent, and real wages have risen by 14 percent.”

Economy. Insights from the ministry and the Central Statistical Office
As per the estimates released on Thursday by the Ministry of Labor, there were 784 thousand registered unemployed individuals in labor offices at the end of May – which is 18.7 thousand fewer than the previous month (a decrease of 2.3 percent). Consequently, the registered unemployment rate stood at 5.0 percent.
Last Friday, the Central Statistical Office disclosed in a preliminary estimate that inflation in May was recorded at 4.1%. According to the data from the Central Statistical Office, Poland’s GDP in the first quarter of this year grew by 3.2% year-on-year and by 2.9% for the entirety of 2024.
Donald Tusk addressed the inflation figures on Wednesday, underscoring that they were „more favorable than experts anticipated.” „In the chaos of the battle, you may have overlooked that inflation in May dropped to 4.1, which again exceeds expert expectations. Let’s keep moving forward!” – he wrote on social media.
