Receipt on the phone, there is a government application. „It will not fade, will not be damaged and will not be lost”

The Ministry of Finance has launched an application that enables users to forgo paper receipts, as announced by Marcin Łoboda, the head of the National Revenue Administration. This initiative to discontinue the issuance of receipts was suggested by Rafał Brzoska. In Poland, around 12 billion paper receipts are produced each year.
Among the deregulation measures introduced by InPost CEO Rafał Brzoska was the suggestion to remove the requirement for issuing fiscal receipts for specific transactions. As stated by Deputy Minister of Finance and head of the National Tax Administration Marcin Łoboda to PAP, the Ministry of Finance has already initiated steps aimed at phasing out paper receipts.
Digital receipt app
– The Ministry of Finance has rolled out the e-Receipts mobile application, which allows users to store all received receipts in a digital format. It is available for free download from both Google Play and the App Store – stated the head of KAS. He mentioned that the app’s launch was made possible through the development of a dedicated system called Receipt HUB. – This IT system enables receipts from a store’s cash register to be sent directly to our app on the user’s phone – he clarified. He emphasized that while the Ministry of Finance has already provided a solution to eliminate paper receipts, its adoption largely relies on business owners. Primarily, it depends on how quickly they implement cash registers that support this functionality. – Initially, the market faced a shortage of cash registers compatible with the Receipt HUB. Currently, an increasing number of such cash registers are becoming available. The Ministry of Finance maintains a list of cash register models that work with Receipt HUB, accessible at the website: www.e-paragony.gov.pl. At present, 14 models of cash registers can issue an e-receipt, and manufacturers are developing an additional 32 models – noted Marcin Łoboda. He further explained that to use the application, one must first install it. Afterward, the user receives an identifier known as the KID number. – While shopping, the customer provides their KID number at checkout. They can show it on their phone or present it printed on paper as a barcode for the cashier to scan. The customer may also dictate the KID. Once the cashier reads the KID, the receipt is transmitted by the cash register to the Receipt HUB. The e-receipt remains in the HUB until the customer retrieves it. Upon activating the receipt download function in the app, the receipt is transferred from the HUB to their device. The receipt can be obtained immediately at checkout or later, with a window of up to 30 days to do so – stated Deputy Minister Łoboda. He stressed that both the application and the Receipt HUB system ensure anonymity and security, guaranteeing that the receipt will not be accessed by anyone else. – An e-receipt is sent solely to the customer using the unique KID identifier. Information about purchases is accessible only in the e-Receipts application on the customer’s smartphone. The service does not collect data on customer purchases. E-receipts in the HUB Receiptowy system are not accessible to tax authorities – clarified the head of KAS. – We have not encountered a solution elsewhere in the world that is as widely available, anonymous, and secure for distributing e-receipts from the cash register to the customer’s phone – he added. He highlighted that interested users can already engage with the application today, although he acknowledged that not all stores or service locations utilize cash registers connected to the app. However, he mentioned that application users can manually add receipts to it. – The application serves numerous purposes, such as storing receipts, budgeting, and monitoring expiration of guarantees. It provides statistics that aid in managing household finances, offering convenience and real-time savings, explained Deputy Minister Łoboda.
New version of the application
He indicated that the Ministry of Finance is currently working on a new version of the e-Receipts application, which will introduce features like the ability to transfer KID to family members or to send a receipt image via text or email. – These features will enable, for instance, the collection of e-receipts in one location for the whole family and will simplify the process of returning goods when having an e-receipt – he added. He recalled that research indicates Poles are keen on using e-receipts. Simultaneously, according to the deputy minister, this solution can provide advantages for business owners. – E-receipts can enhance the customer service experience since customers will be served more promptly. The e-receipt will always be readily available, granting access to bonuses and promotions from service providers. Additionally, e-receipts are environmentally friendly – in Poland, about 12 billion paper receipts are printed each year, which are not recyclable – he stated.
Same as physical receipt
He stressed that legally, an electronically issued receipt holds the same validity as a paper document.
– An e-receipt is equivalent to a conventional paper receipt. It can be utilized for complaints, returns, and various other purposes. An e-receipt is always accessible within the application; it will not fade, become damaged, torn, or lost – pointed out the head of KAS. At the same time, he noted that while the Ministry of Finance promotes the transition to e-receipts, the removal of the obligation to issue such documents is a separate matter. Receipts – as emphasized – play a crucial role. – Receipts serve as proof of purchase and accurate registration of sales by entrepreneurs. By obtaining receipts, consumers help combat the „grey zone” and support fair market competition, as receipts assist entrepreneurs in
