Last winter, Temu introduced its Local-to-Local model in Poland to promote local businesses selling on the platform. The goal is to source and ship 80 percent of its European sales from local warehouses. Temu serves as an e-commerce platform that links consumers with manufacturers, brands, and business partners. It operates in over 90 markets globally.

Temu is an international e-commerce platform that connects consumers with millions of manufacturers, brands, and business partners. It functions across more than 90 markets worldwide. According to a report by the BBC last week, profits for Temu’s parent company fell by forty-seven percent in the first quarter of 2025. The CEO of PDD Holdings indicated that the trade conflict between the US and China „has exerted considerable pressure on consumers.” He attributed the profit decline to several factors, including changes in customs tariffs.

The President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection has filed charges against the Irish company Whaleco Technology Limited, which is responsible for sales via the Temu service in Poland. The allegations pertain to the misleading presentation of promotional prices. An examination of the Temu website and mobile application conducted by the Office revealed that customers may not always be aware of the actual extent of the promotions. It was determined that the company does not consistently provide the price from 30 days prior to the promotion or does so inaccurately.

As emphasized by the Office, the price from 30 days ago displayed on online platforms may be shown in percentages, numbers, verbal phrases, or graphical indicators, such as „sale,” „cheaper,” „promotion for…,” by striking through the price or listing various prices. The platform may choose any format, but it must be clear – it was pointed out.
