Justin Sun, a Chinese billionaire who faced charges for market manipulation in 2023, disclosed that he holds the largest share in a cryptocurrency associated with Donald Trump. He also mentioned his attendance at an exclusive dinner hosted by the president for key investors in the memecoin $TRUMP. Polish investor Mateusz Patrowicz will also be among the attendees.

Sun revealed that he had received an invitation to meet with Trump as a prominent investor in the X platform.

Justin Sun at Donald Trump's Dinner

“I am privileged to support POTUS (President of the United States) and thankful for the invitation from @GetTrumpMemes to join President Trump’s Gala Dinner as his TOP fan!” Sun stated. “As a significant holder of $TRUMP, I look forward to engaging with everyone, discussing crypto, and exploring the future of our sector,” he added.

A count on the Trump gala website — scheduled for Thursday at his golf club in Sterling, Virginia, near Washington — indicates that Sun has acquired 1.4 million units of the president’s cryptocurrency. His tokens are currently valued at $20.9 million.

As CNBC noted, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filed charges against Sun in 2023 for market manipulation and issuing unregistered securities. However, after Trump assumed office, the SEC halted the proceedings – two months following the billionaire’s acquisition of $30 million worth of another cryptocurrency put out by the Trump family enterprise, World Liberty Financial.

A Pole is on the guest list too

Alongside Sun, 219 other prominent $TRUMP holders will be present at the gala dinner. According to bankier.pl, renowned Polish investor Mateusz Patrowicz will be among them. This detail is corroborated by the list of top investors, which ranks the user „MPat” in the 185th position. The list indicates that he possesses 6,452 tokens valued at approximately $94,000.

Furthermore, the top 25 holders will be invited to an even more exclusive VIP gathering with the president. To qualify, one had to purchase (and retain) tokens valued at around $2.5 million.

Major controversy

The event promoted by Trump, as well as the cryptocurrency he offers, have sparked controversy from the outset, with claims of potential corruption. Detractors, including the vice chairman of the Senate committee, have accused it of serving as a means for foreign entities to bypass campaign finance laws or for businessmen to exert influence over the president.

Last week, Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal proposed a resolution in the Senate condemning Trump for his practices.

Trump's crypto-corruption is so extensive and blatant that there is no doubt he will persist in selling out Americans until Republicans become bolder, he asserted.

According to CNBC, the majority of those invited to Thursday's dinner were non-Americans.

On Monday, a White House spokesperson addressed the issue, indignantly responding to a question regarding the president’s actions, asserting it was „absurd for anyone to even insinuate that President Trump is acting in his own self-interest.” She also stated that Trump adheres to all ethical guidelines.

Memecoin $TRUMP

The memecoin $TRUMP was launched by a Trump-affiliated company named Fight Fight Fight (one of his campaign slogans) just prior to his inauguration. The currency surged 500% in the initial hours to $63, although it has since decreased significantly and currently trades at just over $14. The same company also introduced the currency $MELANIA, which is valued at considerably less than $0.4. The total value of Trump tokens in circulation is nearly $3 billion.
