Rafał Trzaskowski and Karol Nawrocki shared their views on safeguarding the złoty during discussions with Sławomir Mentzen, which was a primary demand from the Confederation politician. The candidates for the presidency in the second round also expressed their opinions regarding the adoption of the euro in Poland.

On Saturday, KO presidential hopeful Rafał Trzaskowski engaged in dialogue with Sławomir Mentzen, who did not advance to the second round of the presidential elections. PiS candidate Karol Nawrocki was also invited by the Konfederacja candidate, with their discussion taking place on Thursday.

As Mentzen clarified, the discussions aimed to assist his supporters in deciding which candidate to back in the second round for the presidential position. A key demand from the Confederation politician was to resist limitations on cash circulation and to defend the Polish złoty.

Below are the insights shared by Trzaskowski and Nawrocki regarding the złoty, the protection of the Polish currency, and the potential introduction of the euro in Poland.

Trzaskowski: nobody wants to introduce the euro

– We will not adopt the euro, as currently, the „złoty” protects us from crises. There is no desire to implement the euro. It is not advantageous for us – Trzaskowski emphasized when asked, „what about this euro?”.

He further stated that he „will not endorse any legislation that restricts currency circulation” and will „safeguard the Polish złoty”.

– I do not see any justification for limiting cash circulation at this time. Poles prefer cash, and it is beneficial that we can utilize it. Personally, I frequently make cash payments – asserted the KO candidate.

Nawrocki: I am against the euro

– Naturally, I will protect the Polish złoty. This is integral to my agenda. Our agendas do align on various points – stated Nawrocki.

The PiS candidate also remarked: – Yes, I oppose the euro, not solely for economic reasons, although those are significant.
