Failure at the Ministry of Justice. The Ministry explains what happened.

On Wednesday morning, Kontakt24 received a notification regarding a server failure at the Ministry of Justice. „We are striving to restore complete functionality as swiftly as possible,” the ministry stated. A follow-up message details the reason behind the outage.
„The Ministry of Justice servers have been non-operational since early morning. The National Court Register and the National Debt Register are also down,” one reader mentioned.
„Due to an issue with the infrastructure provider, the Ministry of Justice’s systems are temporarily inaccessible. We are working diligently to restore full functionality as soon as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience caused,” the Ministry of Justice communicated via social media.
Ministry of Justice on the reasons for the outage
Before 4 p.m., the ministry clarified the situation on its X portal profile. „We wish to inform you that some of the Ministry of Justice’s IT systems are unavailable due to a power outage stemming from a failure by an external power supplier,” the ministry clarified. Although the ministry reassured that it „has independent power sources that typically manage to take over operations during emergencies and unexpected situations,” this was not the case here. „In this instance, the power supplier’s failure resulted in a disruption of the system responsible for the automatic transition to emergency power,” the ministry elaborated.
The shutdown was reportedly conducted „deliberately and in a controlled manner.” The procedure for the „safe, phased restart of systems and their return to full functionality” is still in progress. Today’s occurrence was described as „incidental” and was not a result of a cyberattack. „There was no information leak, and all systems and their content remain secure,” the Ministry of Justice stressed.
National Court Register
The National Court Register is a centralized, IT database comprising three distinct registers:
- register of entrepreneurs,
- register of associations, other social and professional organizations, foundations, and public healthcare facilities,
- register of insolvent debtors.
The purpose of the National Court Register is to provide prompt and accurate information regarding the legal status of a registered entity (Central Information of the National Court Register), key aspects of its financial situation, and the manner in which it is represented.
Additionally, the National Court Register includes other relevant data about the entrepreneur, significant for business transactions, such as:
- information on tax and customs liabilities,
- liabilities to ZUS,
- creditors and the amounts of outstanding receivables.
The Register of Insolvent Debtors (RDN) serves as an additional resource of information regarding indebted individuals, where engaging in business might carry increased risk.
National Register of Indebted Persons
The National Debt Register (KRZ) IT system is a public registry supervised by the Minister of Justice, which reveals data about:
- individuals, legal entities, and organizational units that are not legal entities, to which the law confers legal capacity, against whom restructuring and bankruptcy proceedings are or have been initiated, as well as proceedings regarding a decision prohibiting the conduct of business activity;
- individuals, legal entities, and organizational units that are not legal entities, to which the law confers legal capacity, against whom judicial or administrative enforcement has been carried out and was concluded due to ineffectiveness;
- individuals against whom enforcement of maintenance payments or enforcement of state budget receivables arising from benefits paid in the event of ineffective enforcement of maintenance payments is pending and who are overdue with the payment of these benefits for more than 3 months.
