On Friday, Wizz Air announced the launch of 11 new routes from Warsaw Modlin Airport, along with the relocation of two aircraft to Modlin. The Hungarian airline had previously suspended operations from Modlin at the end of 2012.

This validates the details we shared on Friday morning.

Routes from Modlin

During a press event in Warsaw, Wizz Air’s Chief Operations Officer Roland Tischner revealed that flights will commence from Modlin to Athens, Alghero, Bergamo, Brindisi, Palermo, Chisinau, Paphos, Sofia, Barcelona, Bergen, and Malta.

All of these routes, with the exception of Alghero, are set to begin in December. Operations to Alghero will start on March 31, 2026.

Wizz Air plans to provide over 500,000 seats each year from Modlin and will generate more than 80 jobs at the airport located near Warsaw.

Currently, the only airline regularly servicing Modlin is the budget carrier Ryanair, which has recently announced an increase in both flights and passenger numbers from the airport. Additionally, Air Arabia from the United Arab Emirates has also declared its intention to start flights from the airport near Warsaw.

In recent years, Wizz Air has only operated in Mazovia from Chopin Airport and Radom.

The airline has also indicated plans to boost the number of available seats by nearly 20% this year compared to 2024. As of March this year, Wizz Air held a 25% share of the Polish market, making it the second-largest airline in Poland.

Wizz Air is based in Hungary and operates a fleet of 230 Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft, serving over 600 routes from 25 bases across Central and Eastern Europe. According to the company, since 2004, more than 120 million passengers have traveled to and from Poland.
