Increased fees for vehicle inspections TVN24

A total of nine proposals have been presented for the design and construction tender of a segment of the A2 motorway situated to the east of Biała Podlaska. Every proposal surpasses the estimated budget of around PLN 387 million, with the lowest bid reaching PLN 445 million.

Małgorzata Tarnowska, spokesperson for the Warsaw division of the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA), stated that the A2 stretch from Kijowiec to the Dobryń junction will consist of two lanes in each direction, with a provision for an additional lane.

Two service areas, Kyivets North and South, will be constructed along the 9-kilometer corridor, which will also include engineering structures, local traffic roads, lighting, and drainage systems, among other features.

This investment will feature the creation of new sidewalks and bicycle paths. The highway will be outfitted with environmental protection measures and safety features. The new route aims to facilitate future access to the Koroszczyn car terminal at the Belarus border.

Nine contractors have submitted their proposals:

• consortium of Trakcja (leader) and Kauno tiltai (PLN 445 million);
• consortium of Aldesa Construcciones Polska and Aldesa Construcciones (PLN 568 million);
• Mirbud and Budpol (PLN 457 million);
• PORR and PHUB Piotr Pawlica (PLN 512 million);
• Budimex (PLN 538 million);
• Mostostal Warszawa (PLN 532 million);
• INTERCOR Technical Services Company (PLN 631 million);
• Rubau Polska (PLN 606 million);
• Strabag (PLN 603 million).

According to the road workers in a press release, „the contracting authority plans to allocate a gross sum of PLN 386,879,999.99 for this order.”

– The assessment and review of all submissions have commenced – the spokesperson remarked.

GDDKiA anticipates that if there are no legal challenges, the contract with the chosen contractor will be finalized in the last quarter of this year. The contractor will have 32 months from the contract signing date to complete the project, excluding designated winter periods.

– Completion of the work is expected by 2029 – she added.

Eastern segment of the A2 motorway

The construction of the eastern segment of the A2 motorway is at different stages of progress. The 63-kilometer stretch between Siedlce and Biała Podlaska has been divided into four tasks, three of which are currently in progress.

The Siedlce Południe – Malinowiec segment is 83% finished, while the Malinowiec – Łukowisko and Łukowisko – Swory segments are 76% complete. Contractors are actively working on these sections, including building bridges, underground facilities, and installing fencing, acoustic barriers, and energy-absorbing structures.

The Swory-Biała Podlaska segment has been completed, and an occupancy permit has been granted. „Drivers will be able to utilize it once the preceding three segments are finalized. An annex has been signed for this contract, extending the deadline to the end of August this year,” the release indicated.

GDDKiA expects that all segments will be open to traffic by the end of 2025. For the three ongoing contracts, contractors are anticipating an extension for project completion or additional funding.

– The deadlines stipulated in the contract may be delayed if the contractor can demonstrate that unforeseen circumstances arose that hindered the execution of the works – the spokesperson added.
