Agreement with the US signed. „We are ready to use this money as best as we can.”

On Friday, National Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz formalized an agreement to secure a $4 billion loan guarantee aimed at modernizing the Polish military. „We have reaffirmed the Polish-American alliance. We are setting a precedent for Europe regarding investment in security,” stated the Minister of National Defense.
The United States extends loan guarantees to Poland, among others, through the Foreign Military Financing program, which offers loans and grants to U.S. allies and partners to acquire American military hardware. Earlier this April, as part of the aid package for Ukraine, Congress boosted the funds allocated under the Foreign Military Financing (FMF) for NATO allies to $6.7 billion.
During the ceremony on Friday, the Minister of National Defense remarked that the signing of the agreement signifies the strongest Polish-American alliance in history. „We are prepared to utilize this funding to effectively transform the Polish military and enhance Poland’s security,” he asserted. Kosiniak-Kamysz mentioned that Poland serves as „a positive example for other European nations regarding investment in security” and is constructing „a robust military, equipped to tackle the latest challenges.”

„We take great pride in this, we are immensely thankful, and we are poised to utilize this funding to the best of our capabilities,” stated the Minister of Defense. „For the transformation and modernization of the Polish Army, for establishing the strongest defense capacities in Europe, for bolstering the strength of Poland and the Alliance, for safeguarding our borders, for upholding our values, for defending Western civilization, which we have been part of for a millennium,” Kosiniak-Kamysz stressed.
Poland as a frontline partner
The Deputy Prime Minister highlighted that Poland stands as the largest recipient of the Foreign Military Financing program. „No other nation in the world mirrors this situation, illustrating that this friendship is authentic and supported by facts and evidence,” he remarked.
Kosiniak-Kamysz also referenced recent comments from NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander in Europe, General Alexus Grynkewich, who believes that the United States and the European Union have approximately a year and a half to prepare for a possible global military conflict involving China and Russia, with 2027 projected as a pivotal year. „Time is dwindling, and we must utilize it wisely, which is why we are acquiring the best equipment,” he emphasized. He additionally mentioned that American Apache attack helicopters have already arrived in Poland, and Polish pilots are currently undergoing training on Polish, U.S.-made F-35 fighter jets.
Brent Christensen, U.S. Undersecretary of State for Arms Control and International Security, was also present at the ceremony. „This is yet another stride in our dedication to preserving peace and collaboration in this region,” the secretary stated. He noted that Poland has received over $15 billion from the FMF program in the past three years.

„Poland is not only a reliable partner but also a frontline state. In the face of evolving threats, Poland has shown resilience, leadership, and foresight,” Christensen stated.
He also highlighted that such programs are creating jobs in Alabama, North Carolina, and Kansas, while concurrently enhancing the security of both Poland and Europe. „We are a steadfast ally that supports Poland by providing substantial financial guarantees,” he underscored.
