Minister of Family Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bąk: this is irrational, unwise and harmful

„These will primarily lead to adverse effects for the Polish economy, the labor market, employers, employees, and businesses,” stated Family Minister Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bąk during an interview on TVN24’s „Fakty po Faktach.” She believes that President Karol Nawrocki’s veto will result in over 450,000 Ukrainians employed in Poland losing their right to work.
Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bąk, the Minister of Family, Labor, and Social Policy, when questioned about the repercussions of the president’s veto on the aid law for Ukrainian citizens, responded that these would be „primarily adverse effects for the Polish economy, the Polish labor market, Polish employers, employees, and businesses.”
Dziemianowicz-Bąk on the president’s veto
– Currently, according to this act, which was vetoed, the extension of which was rejected by President Karol Nawrocki, we have over 450 thousand Ukrainians working in Poland who, (…) if this act ceases to be in effect on September 30, are at risk of losing their right to work – she highlighted.
The minister noted that „they will likely manage to some extent. Some will leave, while others will seek different grounds for legal employment, but for employers, for businesses, for entrepreneurs, this is a significant challenge, and it is the chaos that Karol Nawrocki has created for them.”
When asked if she favored the president’s project that could address the issue, Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bąk replied, „first of all, we are in a situation where, on one hand, President Nawrocki expresses a desire to connect the disbursement of benefits to the professional activity of Ukrainian citizens or foreigners.”
– Conversely, he vetoes the law that tightens the disbursement of these benefits, which, for instance, links the 800 plus benefit with compulsory education and is detrimental – she stressed.
„This does not harm Ukrainian women, not children, not the mothers of these children, but primarily Polish businesses, Polish workers, creating chaos and risking significant administrative and bureaucratic costs. It is irrational, unwise, and harmful. Nevertheless, we will manage,” she asserted.
„This is inhumane, this is indecent”
„I will say this: first and foremost, the matters of tightening the system and reducing misuse are indeed important to me and to the whole government. However, everything must be approached sensibly,” remarked Minister Dziemianowicz-Bąk when asked if she supported the provisions in the bill aimed at tightening the system.
The head of the Ministry of Family, however, pointed out that „what Karol Nawrocki is proposing is to instantly strip the right to, for instance, the 800 plus benefit from a mother who has simply lost her job, worked, lost her job, and Karol Nawrocki wishes for her to be deprived of the right to the 800 plus benefit overnight.”
„This is inhumane, it’s indecent, and it has nothing to do with tightening the system. Tightening the system means, for instance, linking the 800+ benefit to compulsory schooling. On one hand, this is tightening the system, but on the other hand, it fulfills the primary purpose of the 800+ program. This is a program designed to serve children, to support their development; it’s funds for children. These children must not be penalized because their mother lost her job and is, for example, searching for another,” the minister stated.
The head of the Ministry of Family, Labor, and Social Policy emphasized that the Left’s stance on this matter is clear.
„We will not engage in any dismantling of the 800+ system. We will not participate in punishing anyone for seeking employment, but we do want this funding to go to those who are genuinely entitled to it, who are here, who pay taxes here, who reside here, and whose children attend school here,” she concluded.
