Scammers are dispatching messages urging recipients to update their information due to suspicious activity on their „Blik account,” as reported by the Polish Payment Standard (PSP) company on its social media platform. This is identified as an attempt to acquire personal data and funds.

„If you have recently received a message requesting you to urgently update your details in the Blik service – do not click on any links, and do not share any information, as this is a scam!” – warns PSP.

Actions of fraudsters

„At present, fraudsters are focusing on Blik and are sending messages to individuals at random. These messages prompt you to update your information under the pretext of suspected fraud. Remember! Blik is a payment method that can only be utilized through your bank’s mobile application,” the statement reads.

„Though the message may instill a sense of urgency or even 'threat,’ any attempt to update or secure your 'Blik account’ will lead to the theft of your personal data or even your funds,” it added.

The announcement emphasizes that phishing is a typical online tactic used to extract sensitive information, often provoking emotional responses and prompting hasty actions, like clicking on a provided link or downloading a harmful attachment.

How to safeguard yourself against scammers?

PSP provides guidance on how to shield yourself from scammers.

„Always confirm the actual sender of a message you receive. Does the message provoke an emotional response? This is a warning sign; never act based on emotions! Avoid clicking on any links from unfamiliar sources and refrain from downloading unexpected attachments. Always maintain a principle of limited trust regarding messages that prompt urgent action!” – advises the Blik operator.
