„The leak was found on an agricultural plot. Crude oil was not being transported at the time of the incident due to the absence of scheduled deliveries. There is no risk to the health or safety of local residents,” the company stated.

Following the discovery of the leak, PERN’s emergency teams along with the State Fire Service were sent to the site to secure the area. The company confirmed that the issue has been rectified, and a segment of the pipeline in question will remain temporarily out of operation until its technical condition is thoroughly evaluated.

The leak does not affect supplies

PERN indicated that it is currently investigating the cause of the leak. „The rest of the PERN infrastructure, including other pipeline sections, is operating normally. This incident does not interfere with current customer deliveries,” the company stated.

Additionally, PERN highlighted that environmental protection authorities had been informed about the issue. „A specialized company has initiated measures to mitigate the environmental impact of the leak,” the company added.

The cause of the leak was not disclosed

PERN spokesperson Paweł Łukaszewicz mentioned that company personnel had excavated the section of the pipeline where the oil spill took place and secured the damage. Restoration of the area will commence shortly.

„Our commission will ultimately ascertain the cause of the leak. At this moment, we lack information to suggest that this incident was caused by any external factors, whether human or mechanical,” Łukaszewicz added.
