Tax on „manna from heaven”. Pełczyńska-Nałęcz presented a new proposal

On Thursday, Minister of Funds and Regional Policy Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz suggested instituting a one-time tax on exceptional bank profits. „Such a tax could be directed towards defense, for instance,” she stated.
„I believe that the most effective approach is likely the one implemented in numerous European nations (…), which is a one-off tax, occasionally extended for an additional year, on 'manna from heaven,’ meaning extraordinary, surplus earnings,” remarked Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz, Minister of Funds and Regional Policy, during her appearance on RMF FM on Thursday.

„Such a solidarity tax on 'manna from heaven’ could be utilized for defense purposes (…). If banks profit from the populace, then the populace should also gain from the banks,” she added.
She noted that the loans provided by banks were costly, while the interest rates on savings remained low.
