There is agreement in Brussels on the Polish KPO
There is an agreement to prolong the National Reconstruction Plan until the end of 2026, as announced by Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz, Minister of Funds and Regional Policy, via social media on Friday. „It seemed unachievable, but we accomplished it!” – she stated.
According to the minister, this agreement is the outcome of „months of discussions.” „Executing this decision will necessitate our Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy to renegotiate with the EC regarding the indicators for numerous projects,” she noted.
„However, the most crucial aspect is that this will enable the completion and funding of many significant investments for Poland through the KPO!” – wrote the minister.
Four additional months to „execute projects”
Jan Szyszko, the Deputy Minister of Funds, mentioned in an interview with PAP that this pertains to extending the timeframe for finalizing investments and making payments until the end of 2026, which, as he emphasized, is the primary concern for the Ministry of Funds and, especially, the institutions responsible for investments.
– Our current task is to advance the indicators to earlier phases of the investment during the next negotiation revision. We need to settle them at an earlier stage of the investment, and with these funds, finalize the investment by the end of December (2026 – ed.) – the deputy minister explained. He further added that, in practical terms, this means Poland has four additional months to „execute the projects.”
When questioned about potential changes in the loan segment, he clarified that there was no necessity for such changes, as investments in this area can be realized until 2030.
When should the KPO be settled?
On May 27, Minister Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz reported that the European Commission had given preliminary approval to extend the settlement of KPO investments by three months, pushing it to November 2026. She announced that the final confirmation of this decision would occur in early June.
Under the current projections, all reforms and investments under the KPO should be concluded by August 31, 2026.
