Cybersecurity. Central Bureau of Investigation warns against fraudsters impersonating police officers of the Bureau

Scammers are sending emails impersonating officers from the Central Bureau of Investigation of the Police, claiming there has been an alleged „seizure of a computer” by the authorities.
„We are once again observing a rise in the activities of fraudsters who, through email, pose as officers of the Central Bureau of Investigation of the Police,” stated the CBŚP press team.
Police issue warnings about scammers
The criminals assert in their emails that there has been an alleged „seizure of a computer” by the authorities, related to the discovery of, among other things, child pornography. They also threaten that the individual will be registered as a sex offender and that „the case will be aired by multiple TV channels”.
„This is a scam,” the police stress.
They advise against replying to such communications and not sharing personal information, details that could allow remote access to a bank account, Blik codes, credit card information, cryptocurrencies, or cash with unknown individuals.

Avoid clicking on dubious links
It is also wise to refrain from clicking on dubious links and scanning unfamiliar QR codes, particularly those received through email.
„If we have received such a message, it is undoubtedly a fraud attempt. Let’s exercise greater caution,” remarked officers from the Central Bureau of Investigation.
