Beko Europe sells Verpol factory in Łódź. 250 jobs saved
Beko Europe announced on Friday that it has completed the sale agreement for the Verpol factory located in Łódź, which manufactures plastic parts. The Turkish Mefa Group will take ownership of the plant in May. As a result of this deal, 250 workers at the facility will maintain their positions under the same conditions.
The home appliance producer Beko Europe stated in a message issued to PAP that it has concluded an agreement made last year with the MEFA Group, a long-established Turkish manufacturer of wire products, concerning the sale of the Verpol factory in Łódź.
Consequently, 250 staff members at the Łódź plant will keep their jobs under existing terms, with assurances regarding their service length, salary levels, and all employee benefits intact.
Beko divests Verpol factory
Michele Fabbrocile, the director of the Beko Europe manufacturing facility, remarked that MEFA has been a longstanding and knowledgeable partner of Beko, supplying components across the entire household appliance industry. „MEFA will continue to provide essential parts to the Beko Europe plant in Radomsko, ensuring seamless operations,” Fabbrocile added.
The transfer of the Verpol factory in Łódź, set for early May this year, is part of a larger strategy to streamline production by Beko Europe. In September of the previous year, the company announced its decision to cease operations at its Łódź facilities, which produced cookers, dryers, and plastic components, as well as at its refrigerator plant in Wrocław.
Currently, the company is concentrating on enhancing its operations in Radomsko, a cooking equipment production facility in Wrocław, the Shared Services Centre (SSC) in Łódź, and on bolstering its sales and customer support functions in Warsaw.
Beko Europe is a manufacturer of household appliances. The newly formed Beko Europe is 75% owned by Beko BV and 25% owned by Whirlpool Corporation.
