Glapiński on interest rates: we do not rule anything out TVN24

Refleks analysts anticipate a reduction in gas station prices by 4-6 groszy per liter in the upcoming week. However, additional decreases are uncertain.

As per Refleks analysts, the price drops in the wholesale fuel market observed in May bolster the likelihood of further adjustments at fuel stations next week.

„We predict retail price declines in the next week to be 4-6 groszy per liter, leading to the following levels: unleaded petrol 95 – PLN 5.75/l, unleaded petrol 98 – PLN 6.52/l, diesel – PLN 5.79/l, and autogas PLN 2.95/l,” the representatives of Refleks stated in Friday’s forecast.

Current prices

They indicated that this week, the prices of petrol and diesel have decreased by an average of 6-7 groszy, with autogas dropping by approximately 4 groszy per liter. Currently, the costs for fuels are: unleaded petrol 95 – PLN 5.80/l, unleaded 98 – PLN 6.57/l, diesel – PLN 5.84/l, and autogas PLN 2.98/l.

„This marks the first decline in average autogas prices at stations below PLN 3/l since October of last year; however, unlike other fuels, it still remains PLN 14 per liter pricier than a year ago,” the analysts observed.

They noted that there are still some stations where the prices of essential fuels exceed PLN 6/l.

Further fuel price drops questionable

According to analysts, the continuation of price declines at gas stations in the coming weeks is uncertain, particularly in light of the rise in oil prices noted on Friday and the anticipated agreement between the US and China regarding tariffs.

They added that oil prices are adjusting after the recent trend of declining prices. „The July series of Brent crude futures surpassed $63 per barrel on Friday morning. Over the week, crude oil prices increased by approximately $2 per barrel,” they pointed out.

Analysts indicated that the market is responding positively to the news that the US and China are resuming trade discussions, set to take place in Switzerland on Saturday. The US and China rank as the two largest oil consumers globally, collectively accounting for over 37 percent of global oil consumption. „The American EIA is predicting a decrease in the average price of Brent oil from $68 per barrel in April to $62 per barrel in the latter half of the year,” they reported. They also noted that the average price of Brent oil is expected to be $59 per barrel next year.

„The decrease in oil prices is attributed to an anticipated oversupply. According to the EIA, the growth rate of global oil supply will reach 1.3 million barrels per day this year and 1.4 million barrels per day next year, surpassing the expected growth rate of demand (1 million barrels per day),” the analysts concluded.
