Pension in mObywatel. The government is liquidating the Central Pension Information

Starting January 1, 2026, details regarding retirement will be accessible via the mObywatel application, as per the initiative approved by the government. The plan envisions the dissolution of the Central Pension Information due to excessive costs and uncertain effectiveness.
The proposed legislation crafted by the Ministry of Digitization stipulates that individuals insured with an active information profile in the ZUS system, as well as those saving for retirement, will have the ability to view certain pension information directly within the mObywatel application.
Retirement within mObywatel
– Our pension information will be even more accessible – directly in the mObywatel application. This new feature will provide a summary of both public and private retirement savings options – noted Deputy Minister of Digital Affairs Dariusz Standerski, as quoted in the ministry’s press release.
He further stated: – This will be achievable thanks to collaboration with ZUS and agreements established with other providers offering such solutions. We aim to prioritize trust and service accessibility, along with savings and coherence within the system.
This solution will also allow for the integration of information regarding voluntary pension programs in the application, contingent upon the operators of these programs entering into suitable agreements with the Minister of Digital Affairs.
The project proposes amendments to the Act on the Social Insurance System, enabling ZUS to share information about projected pensions within the mObywatel application.
A new regulation will be introduced, specifying what information about pension products can be displayed in this application. The connection to the mObywatel application is also expected to foster the advancement of the application created by ZUS.
The functionality for sharing pension data in the mObywatel application is scheduled to activate on January 1, 2026.
The conclusion of the Central Pension Information
The government has opted to revoke the act of August 11, 2021, concerning the Central Pension Information. As stated by the Ministry of Digital Affairs, this decision stems from the high projected costs of the project and the uncertainty regarding its genuine effectiveness.
The Ministry emphasized that the establishment of CIE – a new IT system – was deemed unwarranted, particularly in light of the current infrastructure and the potential of the mObywatel application alongside the systems of the Social Insurance Institution. Thus, the new solution is intended to be developed as part of the mObywatel application’s growth, supported by EU funding.
The draft legislation underwent consultations, assessments, and public discussions. Feedback received during these consultations was addressed or clarified. Suggestions for deregulation regarding the provision of pension information in the mObywatel application were taken into account.
Following approval by the Council of Ministers, the document will be forwarded to the Sejm.
