Did a letter not arrive? A package was supposed to be delivered, but the postman was absent? Such occurrences are becoming increasingly common. We are receiving more reports concerning the difficulties faced by Poczta Polska. „In certain delivery regions, temporary challenges have arisen in recent weeks,” the postal service’s press office informed tvn24.pl.

„For the past two weeks, Poczta Polska in Grudziądz has been holding onto my utility bills and parcels. I visit the post office daily to inquire about the reason for these delays. I wait in line at the main post office for an hour to find out the status of my packages, only to be told there are delays. I can understand delays of two days, but not two weeks,” Ms. Danuta shared with Kontakt24 .

The postman she encountered reportedly mentioned that „there have been layoffs and retirements at the post office, and no new staff have been hired to fill the gaps.” „He stated he was already physically drained from working two areas in rotation, just like his colleagues,” she noted.

She also mentioned that her daughter living in Owczary has not received documents from ZUS or packages for her child.

Issues with letter delivery

Mrs. Magdalena from Jastrzębie Górny also reached out to the editorial team of Kontakt24 . In her town, which is part of the Aleksandrów Łódzki commune, the postman has not made an appearance for at least a month. Consequently, residents are missing important official documents, including tax assessments and notifications regarding waste management fees.

„I have not received a decision on the property tax assessment, which was due by the end of February. I also did not get a decision regarding the waste collection fee. (…) This also applies to the PIT for 2024. My previous employer provided me with a parcel number. I checked, and it turns out that the letter sent on February 27 is still at the post office where it was dispatched. It hasn’t even begun its journey. Initially, I tried to call, but there was no response,” she explained.

After unsuccessful attempts to get in touch, Mrs. Magdalena visited the post office in Aleksandrów Łódzki. „The post office resembled a church fair, with a line reminiscent of the Polish People’s Republic era. Two ladies at the counter appeared tired and overwhelmed. I inquired: where are my letters? When will the postman arrive? The lady at the counter had tears in her eyes. She merely replied that out of seven postmen, only four were present, leaving three vacancies unfilled,” Mrs. Magdalena recounted.

Mr. Arek from Wrocław reported that in the past month, he learned twice that Poczta Polska had failed to deliver his registered letters.

„I was awaiting essential documents for ZUS from my former employer. I was informed they had been sent to me via registered mail, but when the parcel did not arrive after three weeks, I reached out to my previous employer, who provided me with the tracking number. Upon checking the Polish Post website, I found that my letter was marked as twice notified, although I never received any notification,” he described.

A resident of Płochocin, located in the Ożarów Mazowiecki commune, also submitted a report about delivery issues to the Kontakt24 editorial team. Her account, reported by TVN Warszawa, indicated that for approximately two months, letters sent via Poczta Polska have not been delivered in the northern part of the town. „Mail has never been consistently delivered daily, but now it is completely absent,” noted Mrs. Maria.

We have also received reports of significant challenges in Brwinów . „On Friday, I received a wedding invitation sent in December. I simply stopped expecting PITs and filed online, but I have no assurance that I will receive all of them this year. Last week, an official delivered property tax calculations on a bicycle,” wrote Ms. Justyna.
